SES Kindergarten students used their inventor thinking to create images inspired by the book, "10 Black Dots." They got to show their creations to a special guest from Arendelle! #SESPride #SESEveryStudent





At SES, Mrs. Detering's class read the Fable, The Tiger & the Mouse. They worked in groups to recount the story to come up with the central message of the story! They added illustrations to support their understanding of the story! #SESPride #19EveryStudent






Motivational Speaker and Team USA BMX Cyclist Matt Wilhelm visited Scott Elementary last Friday with an incredible message for our students. Matt expressed the importance of never giving up and how positive words can make an impact on our world. He also dazzled the crowd with his amazing skills on the bike. Kindergarteners at Scott Elementary are exploring the concept of subtraction. This week they had fun using a real life game where they pretended to eat marshmallows from a cocoa mug. They even made their own take home game using directed drawings. #19Everystudent

First and third grades have buddied up! Mrs. Brown's class and Mrs. Albers's class spent time getting to know each other by reading together!!


SES Fourth graders had the opportunity to participate in Space Force's STEM to Space event where they were paired with a Space Force Guardian for a virtual visit. The students came up with fascinating questions for our Guardian, LT Hummel.






Elf Alert at Scott Elementary! Santa's elves (who also serve as Kindergarten teachers during the off-season) greeted students as they arrived to school this morning. Ms. Vogt's Scott Elementary Kindergarten class helped the Grinch's heart grow bigger and bigger by writing sight words that the Grinch left behind. They were rewarded with a treat that the Grinch left for them in the office. #SESPride #19EveryStudent

Illinois Math and Science Academy gave some SES students in grades 3-5 the opportunity to attend a Saturday STEM Camp where they learned more about how their own eyes and brains work by dissecting cow eyes and sheep brains. Kindergarteners at Scott Elementary have many opportunities to work in cooperative groups. This week they were learning about addition equations while working to add feathers to turkeys. When an odd number of students requires a group of three students instead of two, they learn to share responsibilities and even get to play the roll of a teacher. #19EveryStudent


SES 3rd grade gifted students have been exploring electrical circuits and creating LED light sabers. They will use the force, and what they have learned in class, to create their own games! #19EveryStudent #SESPride
