If you have been by Mascoutah Middle School recently, you've noticed a lot of activity in the field next to MMS. Due to our rapidly growing enrollment and increased facility needs, Mascoutah 19 has embarked on two major projects at MMS that will be completed in two phases over the course of the next two years.
Phase 1 includes a track and field project. It will also incorporate a newer, safer drive along the east side of campus, increased parking, lighting, and sidewalks. The track and field will not only increase athletic opportunities at MMS, but also will help alleviate some of the stress on the high school field. GeoSurfaces is our general contractor on Phase 1 and is working alongside the District's architect, FGM-A. Also a big thank you to DMS Construction, who has donated equipment and time in order to keep project costs down.
Phase 2 will begin next summer. It includes a 24,000 sq. ft. addition to MMS that will provide several more classrooms, science labs, and new library/media center. The existing library will be renovated to house many of our student services such as speech, counseling, and social work. The final design of the addition and renovations are still being finalized with FGM-A and will go out for bid later this spring. Phase 2 will also include a storage and restroom facility for the track and field.
These projects are being financed through our cash reserves and will not add any additional costs to taxpayers. #19EveryStudent #M19Pride
