MES Renovations

The MSD19 Board of Education recently approved FGM-Architects to proceed with a three-phase plan to renovate the existing Mascoutah Elementary School. Phase 1 of the project will take place during this summer and will primarily impact the middle three hallways, cafeteria, front lobby, and exterior. Phase 1 is the bulk of the work. Phases 2 and 3 are much smaller in scope and are scheduled for the following summer(s).

Phase 1 renovations include, but are not limited to, new flooring, lighting, painting (interior and exterior), and a new outdoor classroom area. While the Board of Education and administrative team are still finalizing the MSD19 10 Year Facilities Vision, these renovations are a product of that planning. There has been discussion on whether the District will build a new primary or elementary school in the future, but in all scenarios the current MES building would still be utilized by the District. Therefore, the plan to renovate MES is not contingent upon that decision.

The cost of Phase I is anticipated to be between $1 million and $1.6 million and will be financed through the District's cash reserves. The project scope is currently out for bid, and all bids are due by March 11, 2025. The Board would take official action to award the bid on March 18, 2025.
